Large Format Benchmark Audit file

2019-04-04

Two new 17x19" PDF benchmark files (designed to be measured with an i1IO or Barbieri LFP)
to complement our 11X17 Digital press/ X-Rite isis forms.

Precision/Gamut Size/Resolution Audit file for large format devices:

This PDF is designed to be printed with Color Management OFF, and will assess multiple variables.
  1. Within page uniformity can be calculated by measuring the 4 CC84 3 row targets around the outside edge of the PDF.
    1. The QR codes can be measured with a bar code reader in Capture and it will configure the location of the 4 targets on the outside of the page.
    2. The four three row targets on all sides can be read with IO table without manually position the three corners if the page is cut on the die line and the die line is lined up with the corner of the IO table to make it easier and faster to measure.
  2. Between page repeatability can be calculated by printing multiple pages of this form, measuring all or some of the CC84 target, and grouping them within Print Inspector to calculate the variation
  3. Between day/job reproducibility can be calculated by printing multiple pages of this form, measuring all or some of the CC84 target, and grouping them within Print Inspector to calculate the variation
  4. Gamut size (DTS-18621) can be calculated by measuring the two page TC1617 target, generating a profile, and importing profile into ICC Profile Inspector.
  5. Contrast Resolution target licensed by Franz Sigg can be used to visually assess different devices to see which device makes the finest lines, and provides the most contrast in the imaging area, also included are the ability to see the minimum and maximum dots capable by the printing device.

Accuracy Audit file for large format devices:

This PDF is designed to be printed with Color Management ON, and will assess accuracy.
  1. Measure the TC1617 target and import into your color managed track in ChromaChecker to calculate the E-Factor (accuracy) to your desired printing aim.
  2. Measure the two three row targets on both sides can be read with IO table without manually position the three corners if the page is cut on the die line and the die line is lined up with the corner of the IO table to make it easier and faster to measure. This target can be used to assess the consistency between prints, days or jobs.
You can download these PDFs from the download section in your ChromaChecker log in.

Multi-page charts for CC Capture (i1iO)

Instruments like X-Rite i1iO have some limitation caused by limited scanning area. IT-8 or TC-1617 are typical examples where single page is too small, and the only way is split task into two or more pages. Now Capture is supporting Scanning templates where each page is defined separately - next joined into multipage measurement task.
