eXact / T42

Important information for the eXact users before using eXact with T-42

  • eXact can measure T42 in a spot mode or when equipped with a dedicated trolley also in a scan mode.
  • We recommend checking if the trolley is touching it only with rubber rollers while moving over the scanned printout. Surface unevenness will cause abrasions.
  • A simple test is to check that a thin sheet of paper easily slides under the transparent part of the trolley all the way to the rubber rollers. Press the trolley against the tabletop with one hand, with the other check whether the minimum gap separates the plastic parts from the tabletop
  • Another important element that needs to be checked is the cleanliness of the rollers - including the fifth wheel with a zebra wheel. If we scan a wet print, the rollers often get dirty with paint. This makes the scanned object dirty. Cleanliness can be checked by making circular movements of the trolley on a clean sheet of paper. If we see dirt on the paper, it means that the rollers carry dirt and they should be carefully cleaned.
  • When measuring T-42 don't try to slide the instrument fast. Slower speed helps to get more accurate data.
  • Be sure that your eXact has the most recent version of the firmware. Use eXact Manager to check/upgrade it. Some older models may require to be upgraded in the factory! Check if your eXact has an "M1 Part 2 Export" function.
  • Due to an internal instrument library bug, all Mac users have to disable simultaneous multi M-condition measurements — disabled: "M1 Part 2 Export". We are waiting for the fix.

When using T-42 with eXact for the first time.

  1. Register your T-42 serial number in Instrument Inspector (one registration is for all instruments). Each target has a unique serial number e.g.  T42-00001
  2. Create a baseline - that will represent how the instrument. Perform few scans before to stabilize the measurement conditions. CC Capture will detect missing baseline and will guide the operator through the creation procedure.
  3. When the baseline is created and results are satisfactory (comparable to our example) repeat measurement one more time to see verification on the timeline.

Periodical Instrument Verification

Perform verification of your instrument. Take care to keep your instrument and target clean. If you have more than one target be sure to select the proper serial number!
