Loupe
A digital loupe: measure the print, not just look at it.
Loupe brings image analysis into CC Capture. Photograph or scan a printed sheet and it measures what the eye can only estimate - screen ruling, screen angle, dot geometry - and labels every result with how much it can be trusted.
What it does for you
An operator with a magnifier can say "the screen looks about 150". Loupe says 150.4 lpi at 15.1°, and tells you whether the image it measured was good enough to justify that precision. Every result carries a precision class, so a number from a phone snapshot is never mistaken for one from a proper capture.
That turns a subjective check into a record you can file with the job.
What you can do
- Screen ruling and angle by FFT, per separation
- Task-code documentation - capture the fault on the sheet with the context that explains it
- White and black field correction, so uneven lighting does not become a measurement
- Image statistics for the area you select
- Phone Link - photograph the sheet with a phone and the image appears in CC Capture, with no cable and no card reader
Getting started
Enable Loupe in the Plugin Manager; it appears as a view in the toolbar. Open an image from disk, from a connected camera, or start Phone Link and scan the on-screen code with a phone on the same network.
A note on Phone Link: while it is open, CC Capture runs a small web server on your workstation (port 52487) so the phone can reach it. It stops when you close Phone Link. Details are in the Loupe security note.
