Why use Instrument Inspector?
Ever wonder if your instrument still measures accurately? All of these factors can affect the accuracy of the instrument: Did you just drop your instrument? Did you leave your instrument in a hot or cold car? Was the instrument sitting in a dusty press room for weeks? All these questions can be answered by measuring the Chromachecker Instrument Target and assessing your instruments condition against the instrument's baseline condition.
Are you using one manufacturers instrument to create profiles and another manufacturers instrument for verification and process control for the profiled devices? If the instruments do not measure within your desired tolerance (see Color Tolerance exercise) then you should NOT use the two different instruments in this way. Before you attempt to use different instruments, use the Chromachecker Compare function to ensure the instruments are within your tolerance for color.
Do you have multiple facilities that share work? Do you know that the instruments in the different facilities measure color within your tolerance? If not, both facilities could print jobs with a PASS result, but the jobs will not match because the instruments do not match. Chromachecker Compare function will allow you to ensure all instruments are within your tolerance.
Do you compare color with other companies in the supply chain (Customers, other vendors, other printers, prepress companies)? If so, are you confident that all the instruments measure the same? Using the Chromachecker Compare function will allow you to confirm that all instruments measure accurately.
Is it difficult and expensive to ship your instruments into the manufacturer once a year to ensure the instrument is still accurate? Instrument Inspector lets you determine that your instrument is still accurate, eliminating the need to send the instrument back to the manufacturer every year. This also eliminates having to live without your instrument or paying for a loaner unit, and in the case of the Intellitrax, and Spectrodrive, you can eliminate the costly removal and shipment and insurance for shipping expensive instruments in to be verified.
